Entrevistamos a John Corabi de THE DEAD DAISIES: “Los recitales en Argentina siempre son un descontrol y el público está completamente loco”

A muy poco tiempo de su presentación en Buenos Aires, el frontman de THE DEAD DAISIES, John Corabi, nos dedicó unos minutos para contestar algunas preguntas. Hablamos acerca del origen de la banda, de sus expectativas, de sus sueños y de lo que implica tener tantas figuras en la formación de la banda. Una cosa quedó muy clara, se mueren de ganas de tocar aca. Pasen y lean.

METAL-DAZE: – ¿Cuál es la historia de la banda? ¿Cómo surge la idea de formar un supergrupo como este?

JOHN CORABI: Hola, amigos de Metal-daze. La primer idea sobre la banda surgió en Australia donde algunos de nuestros miembros se encontraban tocando en un festival. Posteriormente se comunicaron con el resto de los músicos y todos estuvimos de acuerdo muy rápidamente; a todos nos entusiasmaba el Proyecto.

MD: – ¿Cómo se dio la llegada de cada músico a la banda? Sabemos que se conocen desde hace mucho tiempo y han compartido muchos escenarios, es así? 

JC: La banda tuvo algunos cambios desde su primera formación. Los nuevos miembros recientemente llegados son músicos con los que he compartido muchos tours y festivales pero jamás habíamos compartido una banda. Siempre nos cruzábamos en los backstage pero nunca sobre el escenario.

MD: – Ya han tenido oportunidad de compartir escenario con bandas de renombre en la escena ¿Creen que esas puertas se abrieron por el pasado de cada uno de los miembros de la banda? ¿O es que realmente han hecho un duro trabajo para conseguirlo? 

JC: Todos nosotros hemos tocado en bandas de renombre. Obviamente eso abre muchas puertas en mucho lugares pero también existe el trabajo de nuestro equipo, desde los managers hasta quienes se encargan de las redes sociales y aquellos que se ocupan del arte de la banda. Todos estamos muy comprometidos con THE DEAD DAISIES, es nuestro presente y future, te lo aseguro.

MD:- Es una larga lista de grandes músicos la que pasó por TDD ¿por qué tantos? ¿Fue algo pre meditado?

JC: No, no fue intencional. Siempre digo que no somos un supergrupo. Somos una banda de Rock N Roll que trabaja muy duro y se esfuerza por traerle a los fans lo mejor de lo mejor.

MD:- ¿Cómo se sienten, a esta altura de vuestras vidas, aun girando y tocando hard rock e influenciando a las masas? ¿Alguna vez lo soñaron? Que se siente al estar tocando con músicos que bien pudieron haber sido influencias mutuas en el pasado?

JC: Nuestra canción “Song and a Prayer” creo que describe un poco lo que siento. Cuando somos jóvenes tenemos muchos sueños y personas a las cuales admiramos y tomamos como ejemplo de vida. Y cuando pasas un tiempo en el “Kiss Kruise”, junto a una de tus bandas favoritas y has podido salir de gira con AEROSMITH, no se puede estar más agradecido. Desde que empecé a cantar tuve el sueño de convertirme en algo bastante similar a lo que soy hoy!!

MD:-¿Tienen problemas de EGO en este tipo de proyectos?

JC: No sabría contestarte bien esta pregunta. Lo que puedo decirte es que todos tenemos nuestra personalidad y que cuando tocas en una banda o sos parte de un grupo de trabajo, tu personalidad y la de los demás deben ser complementarias para que exista un orden y tranquilidad. Afortunadamente nos llevamos muy bien en TDD

MD: – ¿Como surgió la posibilidad de venir a Sudamérica, más especificamente a Argentina? 

JC: Bueno, siempre lo digo, y puede leer varias entrevistas para comprobarlo, que los recitales en Argentina siempre son un descontrol y el público está completamente loco. Todos estamos muy ansiosos por tocar por primera vez en Argentina y Sudamérica, done tenemos el público mas entusiasta del mundo!

MD: – ¿Tienen alguna expectativa particular con respecto a su show acá? Muchos de uds ya han venido alguna vez con sus otras bandas ¿Creen que será algo similar o completamente diferente?

JC: Como te dije antes, tenemos la expectativa de rockear como nunca antes en Argentina y poder vivir dos noches inolvidables, y espero que sea igual para el público. Les mando un gran saludo a todos a través de Metal-Daze, nos vemos! John Corabi

METAL-DAZE: – What’s the story behind the band? How did the idea of forming a supergroup like this generated? 

JOHN CORABI: – Hi, Metal Daze friends, John Corabi answer your questions. The first idea of the band was in Australia, where a couple of our members were playing in a festival there, they later communicated with the other musicians and we all agreed very quickly, we all liked this project.

MD: – How was the arrival of each musician to the band? We can tell you know each other from very long time and shared many tours together, is it?

JC: – The band had some changes in their original lineup. The new members that were being added are musicians with whom we shared tours and festivals, but that never we had shared band. We met in the backstages but not on a same stage.

MD: – You’ve already had the chance to share stage with really big names from the scene, Do you think tose doors opened because of the individual careers of each of your members? Or the people you have working for the band is really working hard to obtain those gigs?

JC: – All of us have played in world renowned bands. Obviously that opens doors on many sides. But the great work from our team too, from management, social networking team, those persons who deal with band art. We are all very committed to TDD, it is our present and our future, that I can tell you.

MD: – A long list of really great musicians played with THE DEAD DAISIES, why so many changes? Is this something intentional?

JC:  – No, it was not intentional to change members. I always make it clear that we are not a super band. We are a rock and roll band that works very hard and strives to bring our fans the best of the best.

MD: – How do you all feel, at these ages, still touring and playing hard rock and really influencing masses? Was this something you’ve ever expected? What is it to be playing alongside with other musicians that might have been an influence for each other some years ago?

JC:  – Our tune “Song and a Prayer” I think describes a little bit what I feel. When we are young we have many dreams, people to whom we admire. And when you spent some time on Kiss Kruise, with one of your favorite bands, and you could tour with Aerosmith, there is nothing else to be thankful for. Since I became a singer I had the expectations of being something very similar to what I am in today’s world.

MD: – Is EGO really a problem in this kind of project?

JC: – I would not know this question well. What I could tell you is that we all have a personality and when you play in a band or in a work environment, your personality and those of others must be complementary, so that there is a certain order and tranquility. We are fortunate to be very close in TDD

MD: – How did the chance of coming to South America, specifically to Argentina, appeared?

JC: – Well, I always say, you look at different interviews to prove it, that the recitals in Argentina always seemed totally out of control, with the public turned totally insane. Everyone in the band is very anxious to play together for the first time in your country and South America, where we have the most enthusiastic public in the world.

MD: – Do you have any expectations about playing here? Many of you have already played with another bands before, do you think it will be something similar or you expect something completely different?

JC: – Like I was just saying to you. We have the expectation of rocking like never before in Argentina and live two unforgettable nights for us and I hope they will be for you too. Argentina, see you soon. I send a big greeting to you through Metal Daze.
